What is EcoEdge?

EcoEdge is predictive climate intelligence for Home Assistant. It reads your existing thermostats, fits a physics model of every room, measures building heat loss, predicts indoor temperatures 24 hours ahead from the weather forecast, and recommends the lowest comfortable setpoint.

Does EcoEdge control my thermostats?

No — recommendations are advisory by design. EcoEdge never changes your thermostats. The Home Assistant integration exposes sensor entities (recommended setpoint, heat loss, confidence, estimated saving), and what you automate with them is entirely up to you.

What do I need to get started?

A Home Assistant installation with at least one climate entity, and HACS for the one-click integration install. An outdoor temperature sensor helps but is not required — hourly weather data for your coordinates fills the gap. Setup takes about ten minutes.

How does the heat-loss measurement work?

Every time your heating pauses, the room cools toward the outdoor temperature. The rate of that cooling, relative to the indoor–outdoor difference, is the room's heat-loss coefficient k — fitted continuously with Newton's law of cooling, adjusted for wind and solar gain, and shown with an honest confidence score.

Is my data private?

EcoEdge processes thermostat states and weather data — no cameras, no microphones, no occupancy tracking. Data is used to model your home's thermal behavior and improve the prediction models.

Does it work with any thermostat?

If Home Assistant sees it as a climate entity — smart TRVs, heat pumps, floor-heating zone controllers, or a 24V multi-zone controller — EcoEdge can model it. Rooms just need a temperature reading and a heating state.
